Physical Therapy for the Performing Artist

Whether you dance for the pure joy of it or for the thrill of competition, your body requires specific training to perform its best. Thomas Nicolla Physical Therapy recognizes that dancers are athletes, and as a result offers the only dance-centric rehab program in the Capital District.

Services

Evaluation

This consultation includes strength, range of motion, and stability deficits as it relates to the performer’s individual art form. Evaluations can be completed on a fee for service basis, or if a prescription is available from a doctor, it can be billed to your insurance.

Treatment

Specific treatment programs are designed to enable the performer to return to his/her art form. Treatment programs are customized to meet the performer’s immediate needs as a performing artist.

Cross Training

The performer can be placed on an independent program designed specifically for his/her own goals. This will enable the performer to remain in excellent condition during times when they are not taking class or rehearsing, or it can help to enhance their existing training program.

Our state-of-the-art facility includes Plyometric equipment used to aid in strengthening and jumping, a dance barre, stabilization equipment, and a large floor area, which allows the dancer/performing artist, to practice floor work and technique.

What Our Patients Are Saying….

“Kim is a fantastic PT and her dance background has been extremely beneficial in effectively treating my daughter’s knee issue. The program she outlines is very dancer specific and Kim even works on her dance technique to see how her knees react to various movements and tweaks her therapy accordingly. We feel very fortunate to have found her!!” Stephanie S.

“Kim Teter is amazing. I cannot recommend her enough to fellow dancers. As an active adult ballet and ballroom dance student, she has restored my practice. Through her strength training and keen eye for technique, I’ve learned how to heal my body from a hip/lower back injury. Thank you Kim! I refer all my family and friends to you. You gave me back my passion and happiness.” - Chris M.
